“KO”Movie Review

K.V.Anand , a renowned Photojournalist turned Director,is back again hitting the bull’s eye with the Jeeva-Karthika starrer “Ko” which is now quoted as a nearly flawless entertainer. It was, as the director promised in the Music launch of the movie. Though the movie was based on the Russel Crowe starrer “The State Of Play” with almost the same plot, It moved the audience to the edge of their seats with splendid cinematography and commercial ingredients which are the Director’s trademark elements. The movie is produced by Red Giant Movies and RS infotainment. It has wonderful music score by Harris Jayaraj and flawless crisp editing by Anthony.

THE PLOT:

The protagonist Ashwin ( Jeeva ) works as a Photojournalist at the Dina Anjal Newspaper, A popular tamil news daily, along with Renuka (Karthika) and Saro (Piya Baajpai). The story is placed within the Election time in Tamil Nadu. There are two Political BigWigs (Prakash Raj and Kotta Srinivasa Rao) who are at logheads with each other.Meanwhile, There is a third party, coming up comprising Good-Hearted Passionate Youth mostly Engineering graduates led by Vasanthan Perumal (Ajmal) trying to reform the dirty politics of the state. As time passes and through various good deeds, “The Siragugal party” gains recognition and the favour of the the people much to the ire of the other two main parties. An unexpected bomb blast takes place takes place at their party meeting taking away the lives of most the party members as well as Saro, who was at the venue covering the event. Undetered Vasanthan continues to contest in election and win comprehensively to become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile,Ashwin and Renuka seek clues to find the mastermind behind the bomb blast and Unravel some Shocking truths which leads to an unpredictable climax.

With the concept being very well executed and driven into the hearts of the audience, the cliche’ storyline of a journalist with his undercover operations bringing light onto the dark social crimes is overshadowed.  The acting in this movie is top notch- Jeeva blends into the character effortlessly while Karthika though her screen presence was good , she lagged in the glamour department and also in many instances , acting inexperience was felt. Piya Baajpai, however has bagged a very good role , which really suited her bubbly nature. She captured many a hearts with her glamour and bubbly presence. Ajmal gets an equal footage as Jeeva and it’s now proven to be a big turning point in his acting career. His versatality in acting over certain situations is so captivating and his performance in climax is better than Jeeva himself. The first half of the movie wasn’t so gripping but it had quite very good song sequences and stunts. The second half was dragged with unwanted songs and their insane placements. But Ultimately when you leave the hall , there will be an feeling awe and the question Is this the best movie ever by K.V.Anand ? Is this his Magnum Opus ??

Verdict: Good Entertainer,A must watch.
