| Karthick has been extremely enthusiastic about music since his childhood ,but, it was only during his early teens,he took it seriously and decided to learn classical music(Carnatic) ,as he desired to become a playback singer in Tamil cinema.Very soon,he favoured listening to Contemporary R&B and Hiphop music in English which are the popular music genres in the U.S.A.He admired the lyrical beauty and the soul in the songs of these genres.His singing ambition slowly began to diminish due to various reasons after entering college,but fortunately,after hearing “Madai Thirandhu” by Yogi B & Natchatra ,he discovered Tamil music beyond Tamil film music.He was instantly impressed and suprised by the language patronage of the tamil people living abroad and their creativity in making songs in Tamil Language which isn’t widely used outside Tamil Nadu.This motivated him to create songs in Tamil using western contemporary music.The same reason also helped him to develop an insatiable interest in Tamil poetry and songwriting.Further,his personal relationships inspired him to write soulful lyrics.And thus,he decided to dedicate his life to music .In the beginning of 2009, Karthick added ‘Madrasi’ behind his name to notify the City where he resides.He takes pride in being called Madrasi,a term that refers to the South Indians in India(specifically the Tamils).
Karthick’s first underground single Manidhanaeyam, is the only song to be promoted by the 3 Best Internet music stations of South Asia(RAAGA-India,ELAKIRI- Sri lanka and MALAYSIAMIX-Malaysia).His highly anticipated single “Nilavil Tholaindhu” was released on Deepavali’09. He is currently collaborating with many talented international music producers hailing from Europe,U.S.A & Pakistan. Karthick Madrasi is a fan of S.P .Balasubramaniam,Hariharan,Karthik,A.R.Rahman and International artists,such as,Justin timberlake,Michael Jackson,George michaels,Eminem,Craig david and many others who have influenced his music style. In the time when plagiarism and sub-standard music dominates the Tamil Music Industry , Karthick Madrasi promises to make quality music which sounds fresh and fabulous forever. |
